A very happy new year to you all wishing you every health and happiness for 2012. I had the fortune to spend 48 hours in Edinburgh which proved to be a great start to 2012- A cosy, compact city, where even I survived without google maps and a stat nav. Cool bars and restaurants are in abundance and the city has avery young vibe to it being a student city.
Edinburgh's nickname, Auld Reekie (Old Smoky), marks an era when the city's buildings and homes burnt a lot of coal and wood for heat and chimneys would emit columns of smoke into the air.
Edinburgh deserves its accolade of 'Athens of the North’ – its grand setting, impressive architecture, stately presence qualify the Scottish capital as one of the finest European cities and the haggis is delicious! You may have noticed I have a grĂ¡ for red telephone boxes and letterboxes..

A must is dinner in the Witchery...
